the 29 palms inn
an oasis. this charming little inn located near joshua tree national park. this is where we spent our thanksgiving holiday. the food was amazing. all homemade and organic--with most of the vegetables served right from their garden. the thanksgiving meal was like homemade. it was relaxing and reflective even with three kids!! we had a wonderful time. the kids loved the grounds and the day trip into the joshua tree park. it is so fun with the kids approaching the age where outdoor activities such as hiking and rock scrambling are doable.
but we didn't just go for the holiday...i went to check it out for the wallflower friends retreat that deb schwedhelm and i have been planning for some time now. she says i talked her into it...when the truth is SHE talked me into it! well, who ever idea it was...i am super excited and can't wait to get back to 29 palms this march with my friends!! it will be the perfect spot for our photographer get-away....
more shots from our trip...

awesome!! what a cool spot! I love the photos too, magical :)
Sounds like a lovely Thanksgiving, especially the veggies straight from the garden...yum! I can't get over how beautiful the location is. Your pictures are incredible:) Good luck with the workshop...I know it will be incredible!
The retreat is so exciting. I am hoping that I will somehow be able to make it. If you don't mind me asking, I just noticed that you have a slideshow on this blog post. I have been trying and trying in vain to get one to work on my square site. what did you use?
Thanks, Ingrid.
I would love love to attend the retreat but the timing won't work out. I hope it is huge success for you and Deb,
how wonderful leah! congrats on the workshop and you too will be a HUGE success. wish I could attend. sounds divine.

that place is definitely on my must visit list for someday! (and i love that mother /grown-up daughter photo shoot i saw on your flickr page)...
Hi Leah,
Love the pics from your Thanksgiving. I live on an organic farm in Vt. I understand exactly what you are describing. It's all so important and now it's foreign to so many. Hopefully we will find our way back to the earth.
Oh my gosh, I totally love the idea of the Wallflower Friends Retreat and meeting you ( I so admire your work), but coming from the East coast it feels a tad short and a little too expensive for just two days. Dang. I can't seem to get a good vibe for this, but I thought I would pass it along: www.hearst8x10.com, There isn't anyone on there who I think is better than you. Just a thought.

What a cute photo of the kids looking out the window!
Wow gorgeous pictures of your children! Love how even on a family vacation, you find moments, colors, light, and places to take pictures that look like editorials! :) Good job!
