a few of our favorite things

french lace cookies and love. yesterday we spent the day baking and decorating the tree. i picked up three new ornaments at pottery barn this season...german glitter ornaments--give love, give hope, give peace. the sale of these ornaments benefit several organizations across america that better the interior environments of shelters and recovery homes. you can't help but love that.
another thing we love are aunt yola's recipe for french lace cookies. they are better with spinkled nuts on top...but these where omitted at our house by popular demand.

french lace cookies
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
cup oatmeal
1 egg
3 tb + 1 tea flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 tea salt
melted dark chocolate
these cookies are as easy and they are good. mix all ingredients minus the chocolate and bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes on parchment lined cookie sheets. let cool completely, remove from parchment and frost (shiny side) with chocolate. for extra goodness, sprinkle with finely chopped nuts.
