because every computer is a little different, i can not guarantee the paths listed below will be correct for everyone. if you cannot find the default folder for your actions or presets you can put them anywhere you like. when you go to "load", your computer will take you to the default file--and from there you can navagate to the folder where you placed the files and continue with the directions as written.

PHOTOSHOP ACTIONS

put your .atn file here:

C:/Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (CS2)\Presets\Photoshop Actions

your .atn file is a set of actions. after your .atn file is copied to your photoshop action's folder, load the action set in photoshop. in your action's menu, use the small arrow at the top right side of the palette. using the pull down menu--select "load actions". select your .atn file, then click "load". your action set is now loaded.

RAW PRESETS

place your .xmp (ADOBE CAMERA RAW) files here:

C:/Documents and Settings\Compac Administrator\Application Data\Adobe\Camera Raw\Settings

after your .xmp file is copied to the camera raw setting's folder, load the presets in camera raw. at the top right side of your camera raw window, under the histogram, you will see a "settings" pull down menu. using the small arrow to the left, select "load settings". select each .xmp file individually and click "load". you must repeat this step for each preset. your ACR presets are now loaded. to select the preset during workflow, use the setting's pull-down menu to select which preset you would like to view. then use your mouse to scroll thru each setting as you decide which setting works best for your photograph. in some circumstances, the files do not stay loaded. if this is your case, use the pull down menu to save each setting after you load them. this helps the preset "stick" and you can use them each time you enter camera raw.

place your .lrtemplate (LIGHTROOM) files here:

to determine the location on your computer:  go to Lightroom Preferences, select “presets” tab, and select “show Lightroom presets folder” and it will show you your path!!
